Dr. G. Venkata Subbaiah, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), TS Centre, addressed a gathering at the Seminar Hall (E-101) of the Civil Engineering Department on January 5, 2024. The audience, comprising IIIrd and Vth Semester B.Tech Civil students, learned about the functioning and privileges of the IEI, which boasts a PAN India presence with 125 State and Local Centres and six Overseas Chapters in the Middle East.
Dr. Subbaiah highlighted the Institution’s diverse activities and its commitment to national service, particularly through the establishment of various Fora and Organs. A significant point of discussion was the financial support IEI offers to students for their projects: up to Rs. 50,000 for undergraduates, Rs. 75,000 for postgraduates, and up to Rs. 3,00,000 for Ph.D. students.
The event also featured addresses by Prof. K.V. Ramana Reddy, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and Prof. G. ChandraMohan Reddy, Principal of MGIT. Dr. Subbaiah was felicitated by the Civil Engineering Department, marking the event as a significant occasion in fostering academic and professional growth among engineering students.
